Stone Soup and Parent Night

Service Learning

Our service learning project is based on recycling. We work with 2 companies. One is Terracycle which is a company that takes our chip bags, juice pouches and lunchable containers and upcycles them into useful products. Plus we get 2 cents for every piece we send them. The other company is with Pepsi Co and they take our bottles and cans. We scan them at school and get points for every bottle and can. We then "cash" in these points for school supplies. The proceeds that Pepsi Co makes from the cans go to the "Post 911 Veterans Rehabilitation Fund." Our service learning is a WIN-WIN!!
As of today (September 28, 2011) we have kept 12,817 items of trash out of the landfill. That doesn't even include the paper we recycle at school! Well done CCA!
